The attending experts fully affirmed the existing work of the platform. Experts pointed out that ITMCTR has conducted exploratory research based on platform data in the field of research methodology, which provides useful insights for optimizing traditional medical clinical trial registration platforms and enhancing clinical trial transparency. These efforts have laid the foundation for the platform to move towards becoming an internationally leading traditional medicine clinical trial registration platform in the future.
Subsequently, experts engaged in lively discussions around the following five core issues: standardization of traditional medical interventions, how to promote the quality of registered clinical trial reports, how to promote result disclosure, how to improve review efficiency and quality, and how to establish an ITMCTR registration review mechanism that is in line with international standards. Experts put forward multiple constructive suggestions during the discussion. Firstly, the importance of improving the quality of clinical trial reports was emphasized, and it was suggested to follow international standards such as the CONSORT Statement through more detailed and precise descriptions of intervention measures to ensure the transparency and reproducibility of research. At the same time, experts call for strengthening the clarity of intervention classification and suggest using a simple and easy to understand classification method. For the registration process, experts propose to strengthen the platform's international cooperation and expand the review team to cope with the increase in the number of registered studies.
Finally, Professor Zhang Qi expressed gratitude for the active participation of all experts and invited Jin Chengzhe, the head of the Traditional, Complementary and Integrative Medicine Division of the World Health Organization, to give a speech. Professor Jin Chengzhe stated that ITMCTR can collaborate with 16 other major registration platforms to promote consistency in data collection and ensure high-quality data.
Currently, the role of traditional medicine in the global health field is becoming increasingly prominent. ITMCTR will provide a more reliable platform for global traditional medicine research and promote the high-quality development of evidence by strengthening the source management of experimental design, improving the transparency level of experiments, and promoting the disclosure of research results.
The successful holding of this conference has pointed out the direction for the future development of ITMCTR and taken an important step towards standardizing clinical research in traditional medicine worldwide.
